Jill, we are shrieking, crying, laughing, and smiling so hard over here all at the same time!! These are absolutely incredible!! It brought me back to looking at your photos of Jon and Chris's wedding when I was secretly buying Katie's engagement ring. I was so amazed at the way you captured not just the wedding itself, but all of the people they loved so authentically! I was SO hopeful we would have a day just like that. Fast forward to our first wedding planning day, we both agreed immediately our highest priority was doing anything we possibly could to have you as our photographer and I'm so thankful we did (and you said yes to us!)- the way you captured all of the moments (that at the time felt like such a blur!!) and all of our favorite people together in one room is so incredibly special to us. We are so appreciative of you sticking with us over the past few years through all the reschedule insanity.
We are also so grateful to you as a wonderful ally, especially in times like this.
Oh my god, JILL!! These are INCREDIBLE!! We spent a full 90 minutes sitting on the couch this morning going through every single picture, laughing and crying and reminiscing. It felt so good to go through each photo in order of the day, remembering things like, "oh I was so happy here!" and "this is when I started to get nervous!" and "so-and-so was being so funny all night!"...It really was such a beautiful and joyous experience going through these pictures. We really can't believe that every single photo is so beautiful and perfect!!
Thank you for making us feel so comfortable and supported on our wedding day. You have such a special energy about you that really put us at ease and to think that on top of being such a good person you are ALSO the best wedding photographer on the planet?! We just feel so lucky and so grateful we got to work with you, and we can never thank you enough!!!
When we met Jill and looked at her work, it became clear to us that she was the best woman for the job of photographing our wedding. Jill has a knack for capturing intimate, special moments in a an ineffable way; the way she plays with light, how she notices the smallest detail that you thought only you did, a look you share with your spouse that you didn't realize she was there for. She is also accommodating while offering helpful suggestions if you want them, and her presence will encourage you to be your best, most natural selves on your wedding day. Our friends regularly comment on how lovely our photos are, and we couldn't agree more.
We are so grateful that we had the opportunity to work with Jill, not only for her artistic talent, but also because she is a beautiful, generous, and incredible woman we still call our friend. Words cannot express how happy and grateful my partner and I were to have Jill and her assistant with us on our special day. First of all, they are just wonderful people. From the very beginning their genuine demeanor and kindness made us both feel at ease. My partner, Pete, is not thrilled about getting his picture taken but when it came time to do the first look, it was so easy and comfortable! Even fun! They added to our day in countless ways, I could go on and on!! Then we received the photos.....WOW!! The images they both captured were incredible! I can't say enough good things about Jill. She is obviously incredibly talented, cool, thoughtful, and nice. But what you can't see on her Instagram is that Jill is the anchor and calm force on the busiest, most wonderful, and hectic day of your life. Jill is never far away, she keeps your videographers in check, she helps you through confusing moments, and she indulged all of your silly photos. Jill is the best. She will make your wedding day calmer and sweeter and you'll have stunning photos to remember every moment.
Jill is INCREDIBLE! She is an all-around wonderful photographer, artist, and human! She took the most beautiful engagement and wedding photos of us a few years ago that people are still commenting on today. We also asked her to do a family photo shoot recently, and that session yielded some of our favorite photos of our son to date. Jill also recently shot the wedding of one of my friends and her work was brilliant! Jill brings out the best in you while remaining true to her amazing style. Jill has an amazing gift and talent for capturing the most precious memories. The prideful look your brother gives you as he's walking you down the isle, the goofy look on your new husband's face during the funny part of the toasts, the timeless love between bride and groom, a loving encounter of the groom laughing with his grandma before the ceremony. Moments that you didn't even realize where happening... but that Jill had the talent and vision to capture so you can cherish it the rest of your life. Words cannot describe how grateful I am that she was one of the recommended photographers from our venue and that we found her. I love her photography style and the candid photos that look amazing. She had so many great recommendations and was very responses to all of our questions along the way (many of which in the couple weeks before the wedding). She also has a very calm presence and assurance that she's keeping everything in check and as planned. Besides all of that - she is a ton of fun and totally got our quirky sense of humor! I couldn't have made a better choice!
I still don’t think I have the words to fully express how happy and how grateful we were to have you as our photographer. Since sending the photos to us a few days ago, Kyle and I can’t stop looking through the moments and the memories and reliving the day. The way you captured the beauty and the happiness of us, our families and our guests along with the special moments that we will want to relive, I will be eternally grateful for you. Jill DeVries is so incredibly talented. In addition to her mesmerizing work, she is also the exact person you want taking your wedding pictures! She is supportive, calm, encouraging, and has the perfect eye to capture each moment of the day. I love Jill's work so much that my husband and I picked our wedding date based on her availability. I cannot stress enough how incredible and how talented Jill is! Jill was our first-round-pick photographer, and having her be the one to capture our wedding was one of the best, if not THE best, decision we made. Jill is SO wonderfully talented in a million different ways. She is incredibly professional and so top of her stuff. I never had to worry about our schedule, getting the shots we needed, or family photos taking too long because she was so on top of everything and kept us on pace while still allowing us to be spontaneous and enjoy ourselves. Jill is always looking out for your best interest- literally stopping mid-photos to reapply my lipstick! Her exact words were, “You’ll be happier having a fresh coat” – and THANK GOODNESS, because she was right! Jill is the exact type of person you want photographing your wedding- a seasoned professional who knows her stuff, while also feeling like she is your best friend who keeps you calm and focused on what’s really important. Having her around some of the most intimate moments of my life felt so easy and natural. But the best part of Jill is her ability to spot and capture organic moments as they happen. She truly captures the raw and real moments in time- your grandpa holding your grandma’s hand, the look on you and your groom’s faces the moment exit the wedding ceremony and you’re officially husband and wife, laughter during the best man’s speech- photos that, upon looking at them, bring you RIGHT BACK to those moments in time. Everyone always says, ‘I wish I could relive that day- it goes by so fast’ – with Jill as your photographer, you CAN relive the day through her photos. She is so talented at capturing you exactly how you are- while also bringing out the very best in you. The way she frames her shots, plays with light, and captures detail is just stunning- she truly is an artist and a master of her craft! I am so unbelievably grateful to Jill for everything - she gave us photos that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. I would pick her again and again and again if I could.
She is stealthy! I had so many of our guests comment on how great our pictures turned out, and how they never even noticed that she was around. This technique makes for many great candid shots of your friends and family just being their normal, beautiful selves. And most importantly she instructs you without being pushy or too posed… she captures the real moments, in the most beautifully candid way.
She accomplishes this by allowing your day to progress naturally. She won’t interrupt a moment by asking you to strike a pose, because she understands the importance of capturing the real moment as it’s happening. This way, when we look back on our pictures we are able to be brought back to that very feeling; the feeling of seeing a best friend you haven’t seen in a very long time, and the love you felt at the very moment they ran to you and embraced you in the most sincere way. It’s these pictures that we end up appreciating the most.
So much gratitude, Jill. Words can’t possibly express how thrilled we are that you joined us on our wedding day. You captured the most significant moments of my life to date, and the most genuine emotions of the most important people in our lives. There is just so much love, laughter and joy radiating from the photos. Anyone can see how in love we are, and the pride our parents and friends feel for participating in such a wonderful day.
As we cuddled up last night, I got to revisit every single emotion I felt that day in a new way. For the next fifty years we will look at these images and be transported back to those moments. There is no way to explain how meaningful that is.
